Chandernahan – The Moon Lake

Chandernahan – (The Moon Lake) is considered the point of origin of the Pabbar River. It is located on the south-eastern slopes of the main Himalayas which lies to the north west of Rohru in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. Trek to Chandernahan lake (4,200m) is a adventurous trek best time is in the month of Mid-April to Mid-October. Total Trek length of Chandernahan lake is 20km (one-way) which offers you a rewarding views & memories.

From the village Janglik it takes nearly 10 hours trek to complete your journey to Chandernahan lake.

Janglik around 250 kms from Chandigarh. Thks is last village of Shimla district and people share culture more with Kinnaur than Shimla. It is a quiet village with a population of around 100 with houses following a usual pattern of slanting roofs with overlapped pieces of slates acting as roof. Located at 1800 metres, village receives heavy snowfall from December onwards till starting March.

Janglik village is away from smartphones and internet. After crossing the Janglik village, it is more of dry terrain and dense forests had eclipsed the landscapes.

Enroute Chandernahan, you will reach Simbar Thach, Dayara Thach, and Litham Thach in between where you will definitely get the feel of heaven and are resting points.

In Chandernahan there are total seven Glacial Ponds.
